In response to participant asks for a trip out of the city during the summer holidays, the Weekend Club took a trip to Loch Lomond with activities organised by Operation Play Outdoors.

Weekend Club staff, volunteers, and participants gathered on the morning of Sunday 7th August in George Square to catch a coach to Balmaha. After meeting Emma from Operation Play Outdoors, who led the day’s session, at Balmaha Visitor Centre, we walked to Manse Bay on Loch Lomond, where we took a break for a drink, snack, and paddle in the loch. We then continued walking around the loch to Millarochy, where we shared a picnic lunch and hot drinks, explored the area, built a fire and toasted marshmallows, and learned about the birds and trees in the area. We then walked back to Balmaha, where we caught the coach back to the city centre. It was a very special day out and for several participants was their first time ever leaving the city since arriving in Glasgow.
