Volunteer Opportunities

From time to time, we appoint new members to our Board of Trustees.  Do you have knowledge, skills, experience, or connections that would equip you well for a governance role with us?  We’re particularly keen to hear from people with skills and experience in governance, finance, or fundraising; and from people with good connections either with Glasgow’s faith communities, third sector organisations, or business community.  If you like the sound of Interfaith Glasgow’s aims and might be interested in helping run the organisation, please drop us a note of interest.  If you’re interested in joining Interfaith Glasgow’s Board of Trustees, please contact chair@interfaithglasgow.org.

Are you interested in working with an interfaith team to offer a warm Glasgow welcome to asylum seekers, refugees, and new migrants? Our Weekend Club volunteers come from different religion and belief backgrounds and work together to support the planning and delivery of our monthly Weekend Club events. Volunteers attend a planning meeting before each event and help at the event itself, once a month on a Saturday. No special skills needed – just a willingness to chat to folk from all over the world and help them feel at home in their new city!  Training and support will be provided.

Our small, dynamic team of office volunteers undertake a wide variety of computer-based tasks for the organisation during office hours. These range from administrative and communication tasks (e.g. website maintenance, event advertising, social media) to more creative work (e.g. poster and newsletter design). Some also work on collating event reports and drafting engaging content for our supporters. Every day is different and if you would like to build up your experience with the day-to-day work of a charity, this may be the role for you.  Supported by Interfaith Glasgow staff, you’ll have the chance to learn about – and contribute to – many aspects of our work.

We host frequent interfaith dialogue events, usually on weekday evenings Mon-Thurs, or Sunday afternoons. These events often include small-group discussions (4-8 people), where participants have the opportunity to engage with people from different backgrounds on the event’s theme. To provide the best experience possible for our participants, we call on the skills of volunteer facilitators to help create a safe and welcoming space and to guide these conversations. Are you experienced with leading discussions, ensuring everyone gets an opportunity to contribute? Are you able to step in confidently if needed? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

We are a small charity and every penny helps. We run occasional fundraising campaigns, but we could always be doing more.  Do you have experience developing creative ways to engage potential donors?  Do you have a track-record of writing successful funding applications?  If you have fundraising skills that could be of benefit to Interfaith Glasgow, please get in touch.

If you’d like to discuss any volunteering opportunities with Interfaith Glasgow, please contact info@interfaithglasgow.org, with ‘Volunteering with IG’ in the subject line.

If you’re not sure about the roles listed, but have particular skills (such as IT skills) that you think might be useful to us, we’d love to hear from you.

Whether for job vacancies or volunteer opportunities, we welcome interest from people of all ethnicities, cultures, and religions; and are always particularly keen to hear from people from minority backgrounds.  So drop us an email today!
