The Weekend Club came together at Pollokshields Bowling Green on Sunday 10th October 2021 to share and write about all things growing, cooking and eating food.

At this event, the Weekend Club was joined by poet Sean Wai Keung who led the adults on a poetry walk, exploring the allotments, pond, and kitchens. Participants shared stories about cooking and sharing food both in their home countries and in their new homes in Scotland, and wrote lines of poetry about their food journeys. Meanwhile, the children did activities led by Joe and Katie from RSPB Scotland, learning about pollination, how plants grow, and swifts. All participants, staff and volunteers came together at the end of the event to share a Panjabi vegetarian meal catered by Ranjit’s Kitchen and to toast marshmallows on the fire. Thanks to Sean, Katie and Joe for being part of this event, to Tab and the Bowling Green team for having us in their brilliant space, and to Ranjit’s for the delicious food!
