‘Stepping into Diversity’ Youth Filmmaking Project
You may have heard us talk about the Stepping into Diversity Youth Filmmaking Project we’ve been running in partnership with West of Scotland Regional Equality Council (WSREC). In advance of us starting back after the holidays, we’ve been working on a short 3-part blog to keep you updated with what’s been going on up to this point. But firstly, just to give you a recap, we started the filmmaking project back in September, with three main aims:
- To gather a group of young people together of different faiths, so that they could build new friendships and get to know one another.
- To create spaces for young people to talk openly about their faith and religious lives and to learn about other people’s faiths
- To work towards a final project together, learning filmmaking & teamwork skills as we went along.
Our core group thus far consists of a few Sikh young people, two Muslim young people, one young Witch and some others who have come and gone throughout the group’s history. Not to mention that the workers are part of the dialogue and learning process and are definitely adding to the diversity! We’re all in this together! So, sit tight and we’ll tell you all about it…
As we progressed into the first section of the project, our friendships have grown in depth as we got to know one another better. Sometimes just ‘getting along’ and doing fun things together is a great way to do Interfaith work. Continue reading to see more of our journey on the SID project.
